ManFlick Presents. Apple.

Well we have made it, we have had a great time filming our film and it feels like the end of a special partnership between myself,Oli Clubb, Joe Sullivan and Sam thorpe.
It took use 4 weeks, £ edits, 83 apples but we made it!

Sounds good?

I take NO! Credit for the sound track it was all the work of Oli who is a genius ( I listened to it and was there while he made it). I dont know alot about the construction of music so here;s what Oli said about the piece:
It starts of very light and dreamy with a chorus of 'Ahhs' to lighten the mood. Some bright happy motif's played on. A guitar rhythm in the background helps add to the happiness of the sound. This melody is the signature apple motif and returns a few times in the piece. The next part of the section is a piece on stacatto strings to make it seems a little more emotional but casual.

The next section is very different. A pedal in the background mixed in with an eerie glockespiel solo makes this passage a little haunting and unsettling. This breaks into a melodic minor section which is meant to connote the confusion felt by the cyclist and the uncertainty the apple faces after it is thrown onto a bench.

This soon errupts into the happy opening sequence. We get an added Flute melody that represents the little girl drawing the face on the apple.

The drunken section is made up of unnerving pizzicato strings, purely to get across the drunken confusion of the 3 men out on the town. The pizzicato strings also give the scene a dainty edge as though there is no real danger for the apple.

The next section is something different and is made up of lots of descending sequences. There is a happy sound. It has a sense of inquisition about it which is meant to represent the dog.

The next section after this is a haunting glockenspiel melody that is an intertextual reference to Witness using the same motifs and melodies. This ties in well with the scene as the tramp is an intertextual refrence to Witness.

This then defers back to the main melody giving the scene the happiness and sense of voyage of discovery we see on the first section.

We then get an atonal descending sequence with loads straight into the climatic ending which is quite dissonant in parts.

This is finally ended with a sad and lonely piano riff detailing the demise of the apple and its grave sacrifice being overlooked by the man.

The sound track is great , it helps to express the emotion of the apple to the audience.

enjoy

Ancillary Task: Magazine Review

As mentioned our second piece is a magazine article we wanted to stick to the theme of keeping it simple, so the article looks clean and is made up of 3 colours, white, green and black. Joe provided the words.

Ancillary Task: Promotional Poster

We decided that we would make a poster and a magazine article as our ancillary Tasks. The film poster we have kept simple this is keeping with the style of the film as it is a simple idea, we would of been stupid and would not of conformed to the idea of a shot film if we had created a image and action heavy poster. As we wanted to make a simple poster we wanted a simple picture, so we went to photography lad in school and used their lighting and white backdrop to get the perfect image.

First draft results are back...

We handed our film in today on the whole we got a good response but there are a few things we need to change:

We had to re-shoot the last couple of scenes as there was a problem with lighting( we already knew this).

Editing and continuity issues throughout the film had to be sorted.

Add more varied shots.

focus more on the apple.

These are going ot be easy to address and should be sorted in no time.

The final day of filming! oh... and the last pod cast.

So today we filmed our last scene, it was a re-shoot as we had some continuity problems where the fruit guy comes out of the shop.We had to film the original scene on to different days as the light went the first time, the only problem was it had been raining the day before meaning we had to go back today and re-shoot. We got all the shots we wanted, and have spent some time putting the footage together and going our last podcast.
